How do I unlock my vault?
Open Calculator Vault — it looks like a normal calculator. Type your secret 4-digit PIN directly on the calculator keypad (like a regular calculation), then tap the = button. Your vault will open instantly.
How do I add photos to my vault?
After unlocking the vault, tap the + button and select "Import from Photos." Choose the photos you want to protect. They will be encrypted and moved into your vault. You can optionally delete the originals from your Photos app.
What file types can I store?
Calculator Vault supports photos, videos, audio clips, documents (PDF, Word, Excel, etc.), and private text notes. All files are encrypted with AES-256 and stored only on your device.
Can I use Face ID or Touch ID?
Yes. After setting up your PIN, go to Settings inside the vault and enable Face ID or Touch ID. You can then unlock your vault with biometrics — your PIN remains as a backup.
How do I change the app icon?
Unlock your vault → tap Settings → App Icon. Choose from Calculator, Notes, Weather, Clock, Reminders, Fitness, or the default Calculator Vault icon. The change takes effect immediately on your home screen.
Security & Privacy
I forgot my PIN. What do I do?
For maximum security, PIN recovery is not available by design — a recovery mechanism would be a security exploit. If you enabled Face ID or Touch ID, you can still access your vault. If not, and you've lost your PIN, the vault contents are inaccessible. We strongly recommend enabling biometric access as a backup.
Are my files sent to your servers?
Never. Calculator Vault stores everything locally on your iPhone using AES-256-GCM encryption. We have no servers that receive or store your files. The only exception is iCloud Backup (Pro feature), which stores your encrypted data in your own personal iCloud account — not ours.
What is the Decoy Vault?
The Decoy Vault is a second PIN that opens a completely empty vault. If someone pressures you to unlock the app, you can enter the decoy PIN — they see an empty vault while your real files stay completely hidden. Set it up in Settings → Security → Decoy Vault.
What is the Security Snapshot feature?
When Security Snapshot is enabled, the front camera silently takes a photo of anyone who enters the wrong PIN. The photo is stored inside your vault — never sent anywhere. You can review captured photos in Settings → Security → Intruder Photos.
What does the Emergency PIN do?
The Emergency PIN is a special duress code. When entered, it can trigger automatic protective actions — such as wiping vault data. This is designed for high-pressure situations. Warning: enabling this feature and triggering it will permanently delete your vault data. Make sure you have iCloud Backup enabled if you use this feature.
Pro & Billing
How do I restore my Pro purchase?
Open Calculator Vault → unlock your vault → Settings → tap "Restore Purchases." Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple ID used for the original purchase. Restoration is instant.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Go to iPhone Settings → tap your Apple ID (your name at the top) → Subscriptions → Calculator Vault Pro → tap Cancel Subscription. You keep Pro access until the end of the current billing period.
I deleted the app. Are my photos gone?
If you had iCloud Backup enabled (Pro feature), reinstall the app, sign into the same Apple ID, and restore from Settings → Backup & Restore. If iCloud Backup was not enabled, files stored in the vault are permanently deleted when the app is uninstalled. Always export important files or enable backup before deleting.
Can I use Calculator Vault on multiple iPhones?
Yes. Your Pro subscription is tied to your Apple ID and covers all your Apple devices. Sign in with the same Apple ID and restore purchases in the app. Use iCloud Backup to keep vault contents in sync between devices.
